Feasibility
“As long as there are people, there will be a need for healthcare.”
The bedrock of any successful project is data analysis.
At Edge Health we investigate everything from income distribution in your designated catchment area to patterns of healthcare consumption, speciality overlap, political stability, how health insurance is structured in that particular region, and so forth.
To unlock maximum potential we study the size of the proposed location and make recommendations based on economies of scale. For upgrades and extensions, we analyse Key Performance Indicators.
An initial review can be can be done without the need for a formal assessment. At this stage the value we offer is in answering the question: will this work?

Sustainability
“We want to leave a sustainable legacy in the healthcare sector.”
Integral to feasibility and funding is sustainability.
Healthcare facilities are intensive consumers of energy and water. As such Edge Health advisors are well-versed in seeking long-term efficiencies, reducing energy consumption and eliminating wastage.
Fossil-fuel power is still the main energy source in Africa due to the initial low
investment costs. However, this technology can no longer compete with the running costs of energy produced from renewable sources in certain regions. The optimal energy solution is a hybrid system.
Other innovations are considered, such as the installation of heat exchangers and greywater systems to allow for heat recovery to further minimise consumption and maximises utilisation of water resources.
For existing healthcare facilities: it is never too late to invest in reliable, sustainable infrastructure.
And note that procurement is a small but vital part of sustainability – Edge Health not only negotiates purchase price but also secures the servicing costs up front, with built-in turn-around times to minimise downtime.

Financing
“Financing can always be found.”
Edge Health is able to assist in finding suitable investment partners through our collective impeccable track record, backed by a solid feasibility report.
Having worked on projects across South Africa, West Africa, East Asia and the Middle East, we are well versed in what global investors are looking for, and who may be interested in partnering in healthcare projects.
But what really sets us apart is the fact that we are able to further off-set risk by potentially offering to join the partnership. Because there’s nothing like having skin in the game to deliver an exceptional result.

The Detail
“Why bring in a Mercedes when we need a Toyota?”
With more than 100 years’ cumulative experience of working in hospitals, Edge Health advisors know: nothing matters more than paying attention to detail.
From the feasibility study to IT systems and hospital support services, recruitment procedures to maintenance planning, each project has its own unique challenges. At Edge Health we are sticklers for the minutiae of detail involved in each individual project, and adapt our expertise accordingly.
Aside from technical, legal and regulatory details, we offer knowledge gleaned from decades of experience in hospitals to the finer details: from which way a door should open, to where to place the TV so the glare from the sun doesn’t obscure the patient’s view.
This provides a multi-disciplinary approach, based on a shared acknowledgment that excellence can only come with focused application, every step of the way.

Pricing
“Our goal is always to deliver value.”
Every member of the team has decades of hospital experience, but this expertise does not necessarily come at a premium.
Aside from the level of detail, Edge Health offers complete transparency in costing. Any commissions are passed on to the client as a saving.
Long-term running costs are factored in from the outset and the healthcare facility designed in such a way that scheduled maintenance does not impact unduly on operations.
Value is not just transactional. We investigate ‘rent to own’ purchase agreements. If high-tech equipment will not significantly improve outcomes for a specific project, it is not included in the procurement list.
We understand that delays in projects ratchet up costs, so another central tenet is timeous execution.
Existing hospitals make their money from two pillars – tariff and volumes. With the tariff margins squeezed, it is essential that existing processes are streamlined and facilities optimised to increase volume.
